Why does a bearded dragon have to take a bath / shower?

It can be quite important to bathe your bearded dragons every now and then! This is because they need moisture and because it can work against problems such as difficult shedding or blockage in the digesting system. You could also put them in the shower for a natural effect, in Australia it rains sometimes. Below you can read how we bathe the bearded dragons and frequently asked questions about bathing the bearded dragon.

How do we do it?

You should bathe your bearded dragon about once a week. We put them in the sink once and in the shower the other time. It is more natural in the shower than in the sink. In Australia it can rain suddenly and then the wild bearded dragons lie under it and sometimes they even make swimming movements.

Wel moet je kijken naar het beestje zelf. Zo doen wij Oscar (een van onze baardagamen) zelden in bad of onder de douche, maar Nugget juist weer wel. Waarom Oscar niet? Oscar vindt het namelijk echt niet leuk, daarom hebben we dit besluit genomen mits hij geen medische problemen heeft zoals verstopping of moeilijk door de vervelling heen komen.


How often should a bearded dragon take a bath?

We recommend about 1 to 2 times a week

My bearded dragon doesn't like to bathe now what?

It is not necessary unless medical problems such as difficult shedding or constipation occur. Make sure that your bearded dragon gets moisture in a way.

How warm should the water beard bearded dragon be?

In the bath for the bearded dragon it should be around 20-25 degrees Celsius, feel with your hand or elbow whether it is not too hot.
